About Us

Ihrig Moving and Storage was founded in 1901 in Buffalo, NY and is the oldest moving company in Buffalo.  Actually, when Ihrig first started we were not even a moving company at all, our primary service was delivering ice blocks for use in the ice chests (now refrigerators) across the city of Buffalo.  Over time Ihrig evolved into a moving company as more and more of our customers asked us if we could do them a favor by helping them move an article of furniture across town.

Today Ihrig has come a long way since our ice block delivery days and is a Full Service Professional Moving company.  We have locations in Buffalo and Rochester New York as well as a southern location servicing Tampa and Sarasota Florida.  Ihirg is also affiliated with Mayflower Transit which has further expanded our service area not only nationwide but internationally as well.

As our service area expanded so too did the types of services we offered.  Ihrig Mayflower can practically move anything for you, from households to offices; we specialize in electronics, tradeshows and last mile delivery as well.  Not only can we move these things for you but we can also store them.  Ihrig has 4 warehouses in New York and 2 in Florida that store anything and everything including, household goods, palletized merchandise, crated/containerized items, we've even stored an airplane.  We offer professional packing services for the various commodities we move too.  Ihrig handles the intricacies of packing and protecting all of your household good belongs, but is even capable of performing large scale specialized crating projects for industrial machinery.  From packing to moving to storage, we can handle nearly everything you throw at us.

Our service area and move specialties are not what have kept us in business for over a century however, it is our quality.  The staff at Ihrig is friendly and easy to work with; we are a tight knit family that works well as a team, which is crucial for achieving consistently high levels of quality.  However our staff is only part of the equation. Perhaps the most important factor in a successful move is the quality of men who complete it.  Our Van Operators, Crew Chiefs, Project Engineers and Movers Assistants are all well trained and know what it takes to ensure our moves go smoothly.  Moreover, they are experienced and that's the real key to ensuring a high level of quality on your move even when a problem arises.
